Governor Brown Signs Legislation To Calculate The Environmental Impact Of Imported Natural Gas

SAN FRANCISCO — Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Assembly Bill (AB) 2195, authored by Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park), to require the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to quantify the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, associated with the leakage of gas into the atmosphere, during the production, processing, and transportation of natural gas that is imported into the state from out-of-state sources.

Consumer Protection And Cybersecurity Legislation Clears Senate Fiscal Committee

SACRAMENTO – Today, the Senate Committee on Appropriations approved five bills authored by Assemblymember Ed Chau (D–Monterey Park). The bills include efforts to safeguard consumer information from data breaches, to implement reasonable regulations for the use of digital pills, to require that retailers carry out age verification checks, to protect consumers from false and deceptive spam emails, and to bolster California’s cybersecurity and election infrastructure.

The committees examined the promises and challenges associated with AI, and impact it may have on the workforce, consumers, government, and businesses. Also considered was the role that the Legislature should take in approaching this complex and emerging issue.
