Assemblymember Mike Fong Issues Statement on the May Revision of the Budget

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Mike Fong (D – Alhambra) issued the following statement on Governor Newsom’s May Revision of the 2024-25 budget:

“As the Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, the May Revision’s potential impact on higher education is daunting.  Higher education has the power to transform lives.  We need to ensure that higher education continues to be attainable.  That means we need to keep tuition affordable and ensure that financial aid is available to as many eligible students as possible,” said Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra).

“As a member of the Budget Subcommittee on education finance, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Legislature and the Administration to explore how we can implement financial aid reform within our budget constraints.  As a joint author of the Assembly’s education facilities bond, AB 247, I also look forward to putting together a bond that ensures that our students can learn in a safe environment that enables 21st century learning.  Our future workforce and strength of the economy rely on the success of California’s students,” said Assemblymember Fong.
