SACRAMENTO — Today, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Assembly Bill (AB) 375, authored by Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park), Senator Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys), and Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa), the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, which will ensure that consumers enjoy choice and transparency in the treatment of their personal information when accessing the Internet.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) honored Stella Li as the 2018 “Woman of the Year” for the 49th District during a legislative ceremony held at the Assembly Chambers. The ceremony recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to California, as part of Women’s History Month.

SACRAMENTO – State legislators, key academics, industry experts, government liaisons, and consumer representatives convened on Tuesday for the first hearing of the California State Assembly on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The committees examined the promises and challenges associated with AI, and impact it may have on the workforce, consumers, government, and businesses. Also considered was the role that the Legislature should take in approaching this complex and emerging issue.

Sacramento – Assemblymember Ed Chau (D–Monterey Park), Chair of the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee, introduced legislation in response to the Equifax data breach from last year that resulted in the loss of 145.5 million U.S. consumers’ personal information.  Assembly Bill (AB) 1859 would require Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies (CCRAs) to patch their vulnerable computer systems in a timely manner or be subject to civil penalties to individuals whose data was compromised.

ARCADIA – On Friday, December 15th, 2017, Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) honored thirteen outstanding honorees with the “Make A Difference” Award for their dedication and commitment to improving the quality of life for so many residents in the community. This year Assemblymember Chau recognized our first responders, local law enforcement, and firefighters. The award ceremony took place during the Assemblymember’s annual “Holiday Toy Drive” in the City of Arcadia.
