California Department of Fish and Wildlife

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) track wildlife incidents, encounters and sightings. You may submit wildlife incident reports online to the CDFW Wildlife Incident Reporting (WIR) System. General information on fish, wildlife, and related topics are also available on the CDFW website.

Seeing wildlife can be a positive experience. However, wild animals should not be approached or handled. It is illegal to feed, harass or harm wildlife. If you are having a problem with coyotes or other wild animals, please contact CDFW before taking action. You may also check with your local city or county resources for assistance or information regarding wildlife.
